        Matelec | Hex Head Drill Point Screw 12G x 20mm | Mechanically Galvanised Steel

        The Matelec HXD-G12M20-G is a hex head drill point screw, 12 gauge by 20mm, supplied 200 per jar. The head takes a 5/16 inch hex socket driver, and the drill point cuts its own hole in sheet metal and light steel sections. The HXD-G12M20-G is made from mechanically galvanised steel, one of the three materials supplied in the Matelec fastener range.

        A drill point screw makes its own hole, so fixing into sheet metal is one operation instead of drilling and then driving. The drill point on the HXD-G12M20-G cuts and threads in one pass, with no pilot hole. The 5/16 inch hex head takes a socket or nut driver rather than a screwdriver bit.

        Every hex head screw in the Matelec fastener range drives with the same 5/16 inch socket, so one driver covers the group. The HXD-G12M20-G is the heavier gauge in that group, at 12 gauge by 20mm. The finish is mechanically galvanised steel, the same as the other hex head drill point codes.
