        Matelec | Hex Head Type 17 Roofing Screw 12G x 25mm | Seal Fitted

        The Matelec HXN-G12M25-GS is a hex head Type 17 roofing screw, 12 gauge by 25mm, fitted with a seal and supplied 200 to a jar. The head takes a 5/16 inch hex socket driver. The HXN-G12M25-GS is made from mechanically galvanised steel, and the Type 17 point drives into timber without a pilot hole.

        A Type 17 point carries a cutaway notch at the tip that clears the material as the screw enters, which is what lets it start in timber and pull down fast. The fitted seal then compresses against the sheet as the screw seats, closing the hole the point made. Together that is a roof fixing into timber in one pass.

        The HXN-G12M25-GS drives with a 5/16 inch socket, the same drive used across the Matelec hex head range. A hex socket grips the outside faces of the head, so the driver does not cam out of a recess the way a bladed or cross bit can. The finish is mechanically galvanised steel, a zinc coating applied mechanically rather than by electroplating or hot dipping.

        The HXN-G12M25-GS is not a drill point screw. Steel purlins and steel battens call for a drill point instead. The screw is mechanically galvanised steel and is not 316 stainless, so it is not the fixing where a stainless grade is required.
