The Robus RSSPE-24 is a stand-alone sunset switch photocell rated 16A at 220-240V, which switches outdoor lighting automatically on ambient light level. The RSSPE-24 handles a maximum LED load of 1000W, with adjustable lux and time settings selected behind the front cover. It is rated IP66 and IK10 in a UV-stabilised polycarbonate enclosure, and is Class II double insulated.
Outdoor lighting on a timeclock drifts against seasonal sunset variation. A schedule programmed in January is operating through daylight hours by June, and manual switching is routinely forgotten. The RSSPE-24 responds to ambient illumination rather than a clock. Lux switching levels from 3 to 500 lux and a time delay of 1 to 9 hours or dusk to dawn calibrate the response to the installation.
A photocell positioned above the controlled fitting eliminates the biannual reprogramming a timeclock demands. Large terminals accepting 1.5mm2 loop-in and loop-out terminate the RSSPE-24 into an existing circuit without an additional junction box. Robus lists the unit as retrofittable with bases from most leading brands, so a replacement reuses the fixings already drilled. Class II construction requires only active, loop, and neutral terminations.

Robus states the controlled fittings must be positioned so their stray light cannot fall on the sensor, and the unit must sit clear of other light sources and swaying obstructions, or it will switch unintentionally.
