Installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician. The LIF6800 runs on 240V AC mains, so the base is hard-wired into the smoke alarm circuit. The alarm head then slides onto the QUICK SLIDE base. Working on 240V wiring without a licence is unlawful and unsafe.
The LIF6800 interconnects with up to 24 units. Interconnection can be hard-wired through the loop terminal, or made wireless by fitting the alarm to a PSA 6000WB wireless RF interlink baseplate. When one alarm detects smoke, every interconnected alarm sounds.
The LIF6800 uses a replaceable 9V alkaline battery as backup to its 240V mains supply, rather than a sealed ten-year lithium cell. The 9V battery can be swapped when it runs low. The LIF6800RL offers the same alarm with a non-replaceable ten-year rechargeable lithium backup instead.
