The Heinemann SFM1-G3-25-2 is a single pole miniature circuit breaker rated 25A at 240V AC, using a hydraulic magnetic trip element rather than a bimetallic thermal strip. The SFM1-G3-25-2 carries a Curve 2 (C) time current characteristic and a rated breaking capacity of 6kA at 415/240V AC. It is approved to AS 3111 under approval number N15215, with a 6kV rated impulse withstand voltage.
Thermal magnetic breakers shift their trip point with ambient temperature, so a board in a hot roof space or a mining switchroom can trip well under its rated load. The SFM1-G3-25-2 uses a hermetically sealed hydraulic magnetic sensing element that carries 100 per cent of rated current with the trip point unaffected by ambient temperature. There is no cooling down period after a trip, so the breaker can be reclosed as soon as the fault has been cleared. Sealed sensing also means no ageing deterioration of the trip mechanism over the service life of the board.
Contractors spec the SFM1-G3-25-2 on plant and motor circuits where a thermal breaker would need derating for ambient and re-checking on site. The Curve 2 (C) characteristic rides through motor starting current while still clearing sustained overload, and CBI publishes a motor selection table so the rating can be picked against full load current. Line and load terminals take copper conductors up to 50mm2, so one breaker covers sub-main and heavy final subcircuit work with no change of hardware. Fixing is flexible: clip tray, surface or front screw (M4) mounting all suit existing Heinemann boards.
The SFM1-G3-25-2 is a miniature circuit breaker only. It provides overload and short circuit protection with no earth leakage detection, so it does not satisfy a residual current protection requirement on its own. Operation is specified from -10 to +60 degrees C, with storage from -20 to +60 degrees C, and the unit is not rated for installation outside a suitable enclosure.
(SFM1-G3-25-2)
The SFM1-G3-25-2 is approved to AS 3111 under approval number N15215. Rated breaking capacity is 6kA at 415/240V AC and rated impulse withstand voltage is 6kV. The breaker also conforms to IEC 577, which applies to rolling stock.
Mounting options are clip tray, surface, or front screws (M4). Front connected box terminals accept copper conductors up to 50mm2 at 4Nm torque. Front connected screw terminals suit lugs up to 50mm2 at 4Nm, and rear connected stud terminals use M6 studs at 2.5Nm. Installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician.
Thermal magnetic breakers use a bimetallic strip, so the trip point moves with ambient temperature and the strip needs to cool before the breaker can be reclosed. Hydraulic magnetic breakers use a sealed solenoid, iron core and damping fluid. The trip point stays fixed across the operating range and the breaker recloses immediately once the fault clears.
The SFM range is designed for CBI and Heinemann ADVS, HPR and HCF load centres, and for the CBI Xtreme Load Centre. Clip tray, surface and front screw fixing cover most existing Heinemann boards. Confirm chassis, busbar and module width compatibility with the board manufacturer before ordering.
Curve 2 (C), described by Heinemann as medium, is fitted to the SFM1-G3-25-2. Curve 2 tolerates motor and transformer inrush while still clearing sustained overload. The SFM1-G3 single pole range is also built in Curve 1 (D) and Curve 3 (B) for higher and lower inrush duty.
Rated service life on AC is 6000 electrical operations and 4000 mechanical operations. The sensing mechanism is hermetically sealed, so there is no ageing deterioration of the trip element. Operating temperature runs from -10 to +60 degrees C, with storage from -20 to +60 degrees C.
Warranty runs one year for domestic use and one year for commercial use, starting from the invoice date. The warranty method is return to Sparky Direct. Warranty cover is void where the product has not been installed by a licensed electrician.
A single pole MCB protects against overload and short circuit only, with no earth leakage detection. Where residual current protection is required, an RCBO or RCCB is needed, such as the Heinemann SF15AE RCBO or SF15CE RCCB. A single pole breaker also leaves the neutral conductor unswitched.
