The Dual Action 12042302 is a 23 piece 1/4 inch drive socket set. The 12042302 carries 6-point imperial sockets in standard and deep lengths, covering ten sizes from 3/16 inch to 9/16 inch. Dual Action sockets are built for use with both hand tools and air or cordless impact tools.
A chrome hand socket is thin enough for tight access but is not built for impact drive. An impact socket trades that thin wall for strength. Dual Action combines the two: thin wall sockets with impact socket strength, so one series does both jobs. The 12042302 pairs every size with a matching deep socket, reaching studs and recessed fasteners a standard socket cannot.
The 72 tooth ratchet head is serviceable: the gear head, pawl and cover plate are available as replacement parts. Every socket in the set also carries its own Dual Action order number, so a single lost size can be replaced on its own. Dual Action warrants its sockets against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
The 12042302 holds imperial sizes only, from 3/16 inch to 9/16 inch, with no metric sockets in the set. The range stops at 9/16 inch, so anything larger needs a bigger drive size. Eye protection is mandatory whenever these sockets are run on an impact tool.

FAQ (8): 12042302 Dual Action Q: What is the difference between the Dual Action 12042302 and a standard imperial socket set?
(12042302)
The 12042302 is a Dual Action set, so the same sockets run on a hand ratchet and on air or cordless impact tools. Dual Action combines a thin wall chrome hand socket design with impact socket strength, so one series covers both jobs instead of two separate sets.
Ten fractional imperial sizes: 3/16, 7/32, 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2 and 9/16 inch. Each size is supplied twice, once in standard length and once in a 50mm deep length, giving 20 sockets in total.
The set holds imperial fractional sizes only and carries no metric sockets. Action lists metric Dual Action sets separately, including the 31 piece 10043102 and the 53 piece 10045302, which mixes fractional and metric sizes in one case.
A 72 tooth ratchet handle with a quick release button, a 50mm (2 inch) extension bar and a 150mm (6 inch) extension bar. All three sit in the blow-mould case alongside the 20 sockets, making up the 23 pieces.
Yes. Dual Action sockets are made for hand and impact use, so they run on air or cordless impact tools. Action requires eye, face, hand and body protection whenever an impact tool is in use.
Yes. Action lists a repair kit for the 1/4 inch 72 tooth ratchet, part number 8900010RK1, covering the gear head, pawl, cover plate, reverse pawl, spring, steel ball, set screws and hex key. Individual sockets also carry their own order numbers.
