The GT Smoke Alarms GT240L-5Bundle is a mains-powered photoelectric smoke alarm kit containing five GT240L alarms and one GTREMOTE wireless controller. Each GT240L runs on 240V AC mains power with a built-in 10-year rechargeable lithium battery backup, and uses split-spectrum photoelectric sensing to detect smouldering fires before visible flame. The GT240L hardwire interconnects up to 24 alarms, so smoke detected by one unit sounds every alarm on the circuit. Each alarm is certified to AS 3786:2014 and is CSIRO ActivFire listed.
New builds and substantially renovated homes must run mains-powered smoke alarms, not battery-only units. The alarms also have to be photoelectric and interconnected, so one detection sounds the lot. The GT240L-5Bundle covers a standard three-bedroom layout with five 240V alarms in a single carton. Each unit hardwire interconnects up to 24 alarms and holds a sealed 10-year lithium backup for mains failure.
The backup battery in the GT240L is a sealed rechargeable lithium cell rated for the full 10-year service life of the alarm. That removes the annual 9V replacement and the low-battery chirp responsible for most after-hours maintenance callouts. Each GT240L tests and silences from its central push button, and the included GTREMOTE controller repeats those functions from the wall. A false alarm can also be hushed with almost any household infrared remote.
The GT240L is rated for indoor installation only and should not be fitted in outdoor or exposed locations. Photoelectric sensing is not suited to kitchens, bathrooms, or garages, where cooking steam, shower vapour, and vehicle exhaust cause nuisance alarms. Keep installation within the -10C to +55C operating range and below 95% relative humidity, non-condensing.
