Learn more by watching our HAGER ADA940T | 40 Amp 2 Pole 6kA | 30mA RCD/MCB RCBO video.
The Hager ADA940T is a residual current breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO), rated 40 A on a C curve. It carries 30 mA earth leakage sensitivity and a 6 kA short-circuit breaking capacity. The ADA940T is a 1P+N device: the overcurrent protection sits on the active pole, with the neutral switched alongside it. It runs at 240 V AC, 50 Hz, and complies with IEC 61009-1 and AS/NZS 61009-1.
At 35 mm wide, the ADA940T takes two modules on the DIN rail. Replacing a failed two-pole device on an existing board calls for a like-for-like width, not a rebuilt row. The 40 A rating covers a single-phase final subcircuit designed to draw up to 40 A. A C curve puts the magnetic trip between five and ten times rated current, which covers the inrush of motor and appliance loads.
The top terminal on the ADA940T is aligned for modular busbar connection, so it lands in a row beside other Hager modular devices. Both the earth leakage and the overcurrent function sit in the one device, so a single part number covers protection on that circuit. It complies with IEC 61009-1 and AS/NZS 61009-1.
The ADA940T detects AC and pulsating DC residual current, and is not suitable for circuits where smooth DC leakage can occur. At IP20 it is not weatherproof and mounts inside a switchboard or enclosure. It is rated to 240 V and to an ambient of 40°C, so it does not suit line-to-line 415 V connection or positions that run hotter.

(ADA940T)
The ADA940T is an RCBO, so it combines earth leakage detection and overcurrent protection in one device. It trips on residual current above 30 mA and on overcurrent beyond its 40 A rating. It is a 1P+N unit, two modules wide, for 240 V single-phase circuits.
Type A detection picks up pulsating DC residual current as well as AC. Appliances with switch-mode power supplies and electronic controls can put pulsating DC leakage on a circuit, and a Type AC device does not see it. The ADA940T is a Type A device.
The ADA940T is 35 mm wide, which is two standard modules on the DIN rail. Installed, it stands 83 mm high and 68 mm deep. It clips onto standard DIN rail, and the top terminal is aligned for modular busbar connection.
On the ADA940T the overcurrent protection sits on the active pole only. The neutral pole switches with the active, so both conductors are opened when the device trips or is switched off. The neutral itself is not protected against overcurrent.
The screw terminals take rigid conductor up to 25mm², or flexible conductor up to 16mm². Tighten them to 2.1 Nm. Both the line and load terminals are screw type, and the neutral sits on the right-hand side of the device.
A Type A device covers AC and pulsating DC residual current, not smooth DC. Circuits that can produce smooth DC leakage sit outside what the ADA940T detects. It is also IP20, so it belongs inside a switchboard or enclosure, and it is rated to 240 V with a 40°C ambient limit.
