The Leatherman 831151 is a full-size 19-tool multi-tool in a black oxide finish. The tool set covers pliers, three separate wire cutting stations, a wire stripper, an electrical crimper, two 420HC blades, a saw, a file and four screwdrivers. The 831151 measures 115mm closed, weighs 272g and takes an 81mm primary blade.
Of the multi-tools Leatherman builds, this is the one aimed squarely at trade work. It carries a wire stripper and an electrical crimper alongside regular, hard and stranded wire cutters, so most of what a sparky reaches for is on one tool. A 9 inch ruler runs along the handle for rough measuring.
The handles are the part worth knowing about. Their sloped top lets the plier jaws reach further into a tight space than a square-shouldered tool. Large side cutouts give a gloved hand somewhere to grip when opening a tool. The cutters are removable, so a chipped edge is sharpened or swapped rather than written off.
