        Matelec | Hex Head Drill Point Screw 10G x 16mm | Mechanically Galvanised Steel

        The Matelec HXD-G10M16-G is a hex head drill point screw, 10 gauge by 16mm, supplied 200 to a jar. The head takes a 5/16 inch hex socket driver, and the drill point cuts its own hole in sheet metal and light steel section. The HXD-G10M16-G is made from mechanically galvanised steel, one of the three materials the Matelec fastener range is supplied in.

        A drill point screw makes its own hole, so fixing into sheet metal is one operation instead of drilling and then driving. The drill point on the HXD-G10M16-G cuts and threads in the one pass, with no pilot hole. The 5/16 inch hex head takes a socket or nut driver rather than a screwdriver bit.

        Every hex head screw in the Matelec fastener range drives with the same 5/16 inch socket, so one driver covers the group. The HXD-G10M16-G sits at the short end of that group, at 10 gauge by 16mm. The finish is mechanically galvanised steel, one of the three materials the range is supplied in.
