Additional related video.
The Clipsal 755RFB2 is a surface-mount smoke alarm mounting base with built-in wireless RF interconnect, rated 240V, for the Clipsal Firetek surface-mount smoke alarm range. The 755RFB2 links up to 40 alarms by wireless RF or hard-wired interconnect, and carries a sealed rechargeable battery rated for a 10-year life with mains connected. The base is approved to Activfire and RCM, and complies with AS/NZS 60065, AS/NZS 60950.1, and AS/NZS 4268.
Queensland smoke alarm legislation requires photoelectric alarms interconnected across every bedroom, each connecting hallway, and every storey of a dwelling. Pulling a dedicated interconnect cable through a finished ceiling adds hours to a retrofit and disturbs existing linings. The 755RFB2 carries wireless RF interconnect built into the base, so alarms link across the dwelling without a hard-wired interconnect run. It fixes to the ceiling on the same mounting holes as a standard base, which suits both new builds and retrofit upgrades.
For installers, the 755RFB2 converts a wired-only smoke alarm point into a wirelessly interconnected one without chasing additional cable through the ceiling space. One base mounts at each alarm position, and up to 40 units interconnect over a 433.42 MHz radio-frequency link with a 100 m free-air range. The sealed rechargeable battery delivers a 10-year operating life with mains connected, which keeps callbacks and ongoing maintenance low across a job. A dry-contact remote test/hush input allows a momentary wall switch to test or silence every interconnected alarm from a reachable height.
The 755RFB2 is rated for indoor installation only and must not be fitted to damp, freshly painted, or electrically conductive surfaces such as bare metal ceilings. It is not compatible with third-party alarms, fire panels, or other manufacturers' interconnect systems. Only one wireless base is allowed per wired interconnection circuit when mixed with wired alarms.

The Clipsal 755RFB2 is approved to Activfire and RCM and complies with AS/NZS 60065, AS/NZS 60950.1, and AS/NZS 4268. It supports the interconnected photoelectric alarm setups required under Queensland legislation for leased and sold homes, covering bedrooms, connecting hallways, and each storey.
A licensed electrician must install the base, as it connects to 240V mains. Fit it indoors only, and not on damp, freshly painted, or electrically conductive surfaces such as bare metal. The base screws to the ceiling using standard base mounting holes on 84 mm centres.
The 755RFB2 fits the Clipsal Firetek surface-mount alarms 755PSMA2, 755PSMA4, 755RLPSMA2, and 755RLPSMA4, and pairs wirelessly with the 755LPSMA4 lithium alarm. It does not work with the older 755RFB base, third-party alarms, or other manufacturers' fire panels.
The 755RFB2 interconnects up to 40 smoke alarms by wireless RF, hard wiring, or both together. The 433.42 MHz RF link reaches about 100 m in free air and 30 m indoor line of sight. Wired interconnect runs extend up to 150 m.
The sealed rechargeable backup battery is rated for a 10-year life with mains power connected. A red LED flashes once every 10 seconds to warn of a low battery. The base has no user-serviceable parts inside and should not be opened.
Clipsal covers the 755RFB2 with a 5-year warranty from the date of installation, handled as a Clipsal in-home warranty. The warranty is void if the base is not installed by a licensed electrician. Keep your proof of purchase, as cover runs from the invoice date.
A remote test/hush switch can be wired to the dry-contact input on the base, letting you test or silence linked alarms from a wall switch at a reachable height. Use a momentary dry-contact switch, with a cable run up to 20 m back to the base.
