Cabac | XLP Heat Shrink Tubing 6.4mm to 3.2mm 1.2m | White Flame Retardant Polyolefin

The Cabac XLP7-WH4FT is a thin wall heat shrink tube rated 600V, supplied as a single 1.2 metre length with a 2:1 shrink ratio. The XLP7-WH4FT starts at 6.4mm pre-shrink diameter and recovers to 3.2mm, finishing with a 0.56mm wall. The white polyolefin is chemically cross-linked, flame retardant and UV stabilised. It carries UL224 VW1 listing under file number E366157 and passes ASTM D2671 for flammability.

Unprotected terminations invite moisture, abrasion and accidental contact. The exposure sits wherever flexible cable enters a gland or a crimp barrel remains uncovered at a terminal. Insulation tape unwinds under elevated temperature and leaves adhesive residue on the conductor. This tubing recovers to half its supplied diameter, so a single size covers a range of conductors, bootlace ferrules and crimp barrels. The 600V rating and 0.56mm recovered wall give a close-fitting insulated cover that stays positioned once heat is applied.

Buying heat shrink in 1.2 metre lengths keeps the van stocked without committing to a 50 metre reel. Cut what the job requires and keep the remainder. Reserve the white for circuit identification or legend labelling at the board. The XLP7-WH4FT recovers under a standard heat gun within seconds, so a batch of terminations completes quickly on site. Flame retardant polyolefin and UV stabilisation mean the same stick performs inside an enclosure or in an exposed cabinet.

        Features

        • 2:1 shrink ratio — recovers from 6.4mm down to 3.2mm, covering conductors and crimp barrels across that diameter band.
        • 0.56mm recovered wall — thin wall construction that stays flexible after recovery instead of stiffening the cable exit.
        • 600V voltage rating — the XLP7-WH4FT is rated for 600V working voltage across electrical and electronic applications.
        • 25 kV/mm breakdown voltage — dielectric strength quoted by Cabac per millimetre of wall thickness.
        • Cross-linked polyolefin — chemically cross-linked and thermally stabilised material conforming to MIL-I-23053/5 Class 3.
        • Flame retardant grade — passes ASTM D2671 flammability testing and carries UL224 VW1 listing, file number E366157.
        • UV stabilised — the white XLP grade is UV stabilised, unlike the clear variant within the same tubing range.
        • Wide temperature band — rated for continuous operation from minus 75 to plus 135 degrees Celsius.
        • Short-interval heat tolerance — Cabac rates the tubing to withstand 250 degrees Celsius for short intervals.
        • 1.2 metre supplied length — the XLP7-WH4FT ships as one 1.2m (4ft) stick rather than a bulk reel.
        • Low longitudinal shrinkage — length pulls back under 5%, so a cut piece stays close to the length measured.
        • Not adhesive lined — this is unlined thin wall tubing, so it does not seal against water ingress at a joint.

        Where to use

        • Crimp lug and ferrule covers — sleeves the barrel of small lugs and bootlace ferrules on control and light power wiring.
        • Circuit identification — white sleeving carries a marker pen legend for labelling conductors at a board or panel.
        • Switchboard and panel wiring — the XLP7-WH4FT tidies exposed conductor at terminal blocks inside enclosures.
        • Soldered inline joints — insulates joints on data, control and extra-low voltage circuits after soldering.
        • Appliance and pendant flex — covers a nicked outer sheath on leads and flex where the conductor insulation remains sound.
        • Machinery and vehicle looms — the XLP7-WH4FT suits looms where operating temperature swings across a wide band.
        • Strain relief at cable exits — adds a wear layer where flex leaves a gland, plug top or connector body.

The XLP7-WH4FT is not adhesive lined, so it does not form a watertight seal at a joint and is not rated for direct burial or submersion. It will not recover onto anything larger than 6.4mm and will not close down tightly below 3.2mm. Cabac lists the material as flame retardant, not fire rated, so it is not a substitute for a fire barrier or a fire rated cable system.

        (XLP7-WH4FT)

The XLP7-WH4FT carries UL224 VW1 listing under file number E366157 and passes ASTM D2671 for flammability. The tubing also conforms to MIL-I-23053/5 Class 3 and JIS. Voltage rating is 600V.

Slide the cut length over the conductor or crimp barrel before terminating, then apply heat with a heat gun or heat tunnel. Recovery begins above roughly 100 degrees Celsius. Work the heat evenly around the tube so it closes down without trapping air or scorching one side.

The tubing recovers from 6.4mm down to 3.2mm, so it fits anything between those two diameters once shrunk. Typical fits are small crimp lugs, bootlace ferrules, control wiring and light power conductors. Measure the largest point the tube must pass over before cutting.

Continuous operating range is minus 75 to plus 135 degrees Celsius. Cabac also rates the tubing to withstand 250 degrees Celsius for short intervals. That band covers switchboard interiors, machinery looms and vehicle applications.

The XLP range is unlined thin wall tubing with no internal adhesive, so it insulates and protects but does not seal against water. For a sealed joint, Cabac offers glued medium wall tubing such as the SMDW12-3TK, which lines the tube with adhesive that flows on heating.

All XLP colours except clear are UV stabilised, so the white grade tolerates sunlight exposure. It remains unsuitable for direct burial or submersion because there is no adhesive seal. Use it in exposed cabinets, under covers and in machinery rather than buried underground.

Cabac supplies assorted kits alongside single lengths. The XLPKIT holds 22 pieces spanning 1.5mm to 125mm diameter in mixed colours, and the HTK1 budget kit covers assorted colours and lengths. Single 1.2m sticks suit topping up one size that runs out first.
