National Light Sources | Plaster C-Clip 10mm | Metal Mounting Bracket

The NLS 30015 Plaster C-Clip is a metal mounting bracket designed to securely fix power points, light switches, and audio plates to gyprock (plasterboard) walls after erection. The 30015 fits standard 10mm plasterboard and includes two anchor tabs that grip the rear of the board while the bracket face sits flush against the internal wall surface.

Retrofit installations and wall renovations often require a reliable method to mount outlets and switches after walls are already erected. The 30015 plaster bracket addresses this constraint by gripping from behind the board rather than relying on a wall box, eliminating the need to cut larger cavities and reducing installation complexity. Electricians value the 30015 for quick mounting on existing gyprock without additional framing or backing plates.

Sparkies fit these clips by drawing a pencil outline of the U-shape, cutting out the rectangle with a gyprock saw, inserting the bracket from the front while holding the anchor tabs, and then pushing the tabs over the edge of the board to lock the bracket in place. Once secured, the mounting holes line up with the outlet or switch for a single-fastener installation. The metal construction and straightforward design make the 30015 a workhorse accessory for rapid point-of-use mounting on renovation and retrofit jobs.

        Features

        • Metal construction — robust brackets withstand repeated fastening and hold heavy-duty outlet and switch mechanisms without flex or movement.
        • 84mm centre spacing — standard mounting hole pitch matches all major electrical outlet and switch ranges including Clipsal, NLS, and Hager models.
        • 10mm plasterboard rated — specifically designed for standard domestic plasterboard thickness; allows the bracket face to sit flush when mounted.
        • Anchor tab design — two rear tabs grip the back surface of the plasterboard to hold the bracket square and prevent it rotating or sliding during fastening.
        • 122mm total width — compact footprint fits easily within standard wall cavities and electrical switchboard cutouts without requiring edge-to-edge adjustment.
        • 44mm mounting height — sufficient depth to accommodate backing plates, outlet mechanisms, and thick-wall power point housings without binding.
        • 13mm bracket depth — recessed design allows flush mounting so cover plates sit level with the finished plasterboard surface.
        • Sold individually — buy single clips for spot repairs or retrofit work, or order in bulk for new construction and large renovation projects.
        • No wall box required — eliminates the need to cut and install a separate 16mm or 20mm wall box, saving time on retrofit and renovation installations.
        • Single-fastener mounting — screw directly into the mounting holes once the bracket is secured behind the board, reducing the number of fixings needed per point.

        Where to use

        • Retrofit wall installations — the NLS 30015 is the standard choice for mounting outlets and switches on existing gyprock after walls are already finished, when traditional wall boxes cannot be installed.
        • Renovation and refurbishment projects — fit new power points and switches on heritage homes, office refits, and flat conversions where cutting deep wall cavities is not practical.
        • Commercial fit-outs — rapidly install additional points and switches in offices, retail, and hospitality venues without disrupting surrounding finishes.
        • Interior partitioning — use clips to add outlets and switches to new partition walls after plasterboard is hung, without pre-planning wall box positions.
        • Temporary or removable installations — light-duty clips support outlets and switches in temporary fit-outs and modular installations.
        • Bulk electrical refurbishment — rapid-fit clips support whole-house electrical upgrades where many outlets and switches are being added or relocated.
        • Audio and data plate mounting — the 30015 holds phone plates, data ports, and audio components with the same mounting holes and centre spacing as electrical outlets.

The NLS Plaster C-Clip is not suitable for solid plasterboard thicker than 10mm or for plasterboard thinner than 8mm. Do not use the 30015 on metal studs, concrete, or timber framing — it is designed exclusively for hollow gyprock walls. The bracket is not rated for load-bearing applications or for mechanical stress beyond the weight of a single outlet or switch mechanism.

        (30015)

The NLS 30015 Plaster C-Clip is designed to mount power points, light switches, and audio plates on 10mm hollow gyprock (plasterboard) walls after the wall is erected. It grips from behind the plasterboard and does not require a separate wall box.

Measure the height of other wall plates to ensure level mounting. Draw the internal U-shape of the bracket on both sides of the plasterboard as a cutting guide. Cut out the rectangle with a gyprock saw. Hold the two anchor tabs and insert the bracket from the front. Push the tabs down over the rear edge of the board to lock the bracket in place. Line up the mounting holes on the front and screw your power point or switch directly into the bracket.

The NLS 30015 has 84mm centre spacing, which is the standard hole pitch for most major brands including Clipsal, Hager, NLS, and similar ranges. Check that the mechanism you plan to install has 84mm centre spacing before purchasing. Some specialist or non-standard outlets may not align with this spacing.

The 30015 is rated specifically for 10mm plasterboard. It may not grip properly on plasterboard thinner than 8mm or thicker than 10mm. For alternative plasterboard thicknesses, select a bracket rated for that specific thickness.

The 30015 carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty covering defective materials and workmanship. Warranty applies to unused, unopened brackets and does not cover damage from installation, misuse, or use on unsuitable plasterboard. Proof of purchase is required.
