The Alpha CGUFD75 is a 75mm unitized finishing disc in a very fine grade, built for pre-polishing and blending on stainless steel and other metals. The CGUFD75 uses an R Type quick change fitting and carries a maximum speed rating of 11,000 rpm. Highly concentrated abrasive sits within a firm nonwoven base rather than on a coated backing. Each pack holds three discs.
A flap disc or grinding wheel leaves a scratch pattern that telegraphs through the final polish, and going straight to a mop simply burnishes those marks into the surface. Stainless switchboard doors, handrails and fabricated brackets need the defect blended out before polishing begins. The very fine unitized construction reduces the scratch pattern without gouging, so the surface reaches the polishing operation already uniform. The compact three dimensional structure resists loading, which keeps the abrasive cutting instead of glazing over on soft swarf.
The 75mm configuration accesses corners a 125mm disc cannot, which covers most fabrication work on enclosure faces, weld fillets and handrail junctions. An R Type quick change fitting means a disc changeover takes seconds without a spanner, so a fabricator progresses through grades on a single tool. The three disc pack covers a run of work rather than an individual panel. Controlled cutting also reduces the risk of dishing a thin stainless panel and repeating the entire finish.
The CGUFD75 is a finishing disc and is not built for cutting or bulk grinding, so it does not replace a cutting or grinding wheel on heavy stock removal. Running the disc above its 11,000 rpm rated ceiling falls outside what it is rated for.
