Learn more by watching our CLIPSAL 238/25 | Solid Mounting Block (25mm Entry) | White video.
The Clipsal 238/25 is a solid plastic mounting block with two 25mm conduit entries, made for surface mounting on walls, sheds and posts. The 238/25 measures 115mm long, 73mm wide and 42mm deep, with 84mm mounting centres that suit a standard single gang accessory. Two 25mm end caps are supplied to blank off an entry when only one conduit run lands in the block.
Fixing a switch or socket directly onto colorbond sheeting or a besser block wall leaves the terminations and cable tails unprotected behind the accessory. The 238/25 provides a fully enclosed base that carries the accessory clear of the surface and contains the wiring inside the moulding. Its two 25mm end entries accept corrugated or rigid conduit, so the conduit run terminates inside the enclosure rather than at an unprotected cut-out. Shed, garage and workshop installations are the everyday application.
Mounting blocks are ordered by the handful, and the 238/25 travels on the truck because it matches established installation practice. The 84mm mounting centres correspond to standard single gang switches and socket outlets, so one block accommodates a switch, an outlet or a blank plate. Horizontal or vertical orientation means a single part number covers both plate arrangements, eliminating a second inventory line. The supplied end caps close the redundant entry immediately, without a return to the vehicle.
The Clipsal 238/25 carries no published IP rating, so it is not specified for weatherproof, wet-area or submerged installation. Position the block away from exposed external locations and away from direct splash and precipitation. Both conduit entries are located at the ends of the moulding, so the block does not accommodate a rear-entry installation.
(238-25WE)
The 238/25 complies with the EU RoHS Directive. Schneider Electric declares the block free of mercury and toxic heavy metals, and publishes RoHS exemption information with the product data sheet. Wiring an accessory into the block must be carried out by a licensed electrician.
Fitting the block and wiring the accessory inside it is electrical work, so a licensed electrician is required. The block fixes to the surface first, the 25mm conduit lands in one or both end entries, and the switch or socket then mounts to the 84mm centres.
A solid mounting block has a closed back and sides, so the terminals and cable tails of the mounted accessory stay enclosed. A standard block is open at the back and relies on a wall cavity behind it. The solid form suits metal sheds and masonry, where there is nothing behind the surface.
The block takes 25mm conduit, corrugated or rigid, through either of its two end entries. Two 25mm end caps are supplied so an entry that is not in use can be blanked off. Mounting centres are 84mm, matching standard single gang switches and socket outlets.
Two 25mm end caps are supplied with the block. They close off an entry that is not being used, which keeps the enclosure sealed against dust and insects. No plate, switch or socket is included. The block is supplied on its own and sold individually.
Clipsal publishes no IP rating for this mounting block, so it is not specified for weatherproof or wet-area installation. Keep it to dry, sheltered positions such as shed interiors, garages and covered walkways. Exposed positions need an enclosure and accessory rated for that duty.
One year for domestic use and one year for commercial use, running from the invoice date. Clipsal operates an in-home warranty on this product, handling the claim directly and in place, so the block does not need to be uninstalled or returned. The warranty is void if a licensed electrician did not install it.
