The Clipsal R5041NL-ZW is a one gang C-Bus key input unit from the Saturn Zen A Series, which sends commands onto a C-Bus network rather than switching a load directly. The R5041NL-ZW operates on 15 to 36V DC at 22mA drawn from the bus, and carries a blue and orange LED for status. It is supplied as a fascia plate, a body switch, and both a flat and a round push-button cap in Zen white.
A conventional switch performs a single function: interrupting the circuit feeding the luminaire above it. Reconfiguring what a wall plate controls therefore requires reconfiguring the wiring concealed behind it. The R5041NL-ZW instead transmits a message onto the C-Bus network, rendering the key's behaviour programmable rather than hardwired. Isolation of 3.75 kV separates the communication bus from the mains distribution.
A button configured in software rather than in copper converts a scene revision into a laptop exercise instead of a rewire. Load switching, dimming, timer, scene, roller shutter, bell push, and curtain functions all reside behind the identical key. Schneider lists seven switch functions for the R5041NL-ZW: load switching, dimmer, time switch function, scene control, roller shutter, bell push switch, and curtain. Which function the key performs is set in the C-Bus programming rather than in the wiring, so it can be changed later without touching the plate.
The R5041NL-ZW connects to the C-Bus network through a terminal block accepting 0.2 to 1.3mm2 conductors, and draws 15 to 36V DC at 22mA from the bus. It mounts to a standard wall box on 84mm fixing centres. Installation and C-Bus commissioning must be carried out by a licensed electrician.
The box contains a fascia plate, a body switch, and two push-button caps, one flat and one round, in Zen white. The key style is chosen at fit-off rather than at order. No C-Bus output unit, power supply, or network cable is included.
