        The Klein Tools A-31430 is a 12-inch high tension hacksaw with adjustable blade tension to 30,000 pounds per square inch. The A-31430 converts to a jab saw through a tool-free reciprocating blade mount, accepts blades at 45 and 90 degrees for flush or standard cutting, and stores spare 12-inch blades inside the frame. It carries a steel frame with an aluminium and TPR overmoulded handle.

        An inadequately tensioned blade deviates from the marked line and binds within the kerf, converting a straightforward cut through conduit or threaded rod into an exercise in filing the end square afterwards. Tensioning the A-31430 to 30,000 PSI maintains sufficient blade rigidity for accurate tracking. The 24 teeth per inch bi-metal blade suits the thin wall sections encountered in conduit and pipe.

        Cuts positioned within a wall cavity or hard against a ceiling line remain inaccessible to a conventional closed hacksaw frame. The tool-free reciprocating mount relocates the blade to the frame's forward edge, reconfiguring the saw for plunge and confined-space cutting. The 45 degree blade position brings the cut flush against an adjacent surface, and in-frame blade storage keeps replacement blades travelling with the tool.
