The Lerin LTSB-10 is a 10mm flat spade bit from the SharpEdge range, for drilling timber and other light construction materials. It is made from high carbon steel with a hex shank. The LTSB-10 has a hang hole through the blade, used for storage or for pulling cable back through a drilled hole.
Boring through studs and noggings is the slow part of a rough-in, and a blunt or flexing bit makes it slower. A spade bit that wanders on entry leaves a ragged hole and pulls harder on the way through. The LTSB-10 runs a ground central point for a clean start, with a chip-clearing profile that moves waste out.
The hang hole through the blade takes a draw wire, so the bit that made the hole can pull the cable back through it. The hex shank suits corded and cordless drills, and the black oxide finish resists rust between jobs. The blade is heat-treated along its full length.
The LTSB-10 is made for timber and light construction materials. No masonry or metal rating is published for it, so it is not a substitute for a masonry or HSS bit. Drilling blind into framing risks striking existing services, so confirm what sits behind the timber before the bit goes in.

The LTSB-10 is made for timber and other light construction materials. It suits framing, noggings and general timber work on a rough-in. It is not rated for masonry, tile or steel.
The LTSB-10 has a hex shank, which seats in the chuck without slipping when the bit loads up. It runs in corded and cordless drills.
The hang hole serves two purposes. It takes a hook or a split ring for storage in a tool roll, and it takes a draw wire so the bit can pull cable back through the hole it has just cut.
The bit is high carbon steel, heat-treated along its full length rather than at the cutting edge alone. The blade carries a black oxide finish that resists rust and surface wear.
The LTSB-10 cuts a 10mm hole. A larger diameter bit is needed where a bigger cable bundle has to pass through the same framing.
No. A flat spade bit is a timber cutting tool. Masonry needs a carbide-tipped bit in a hammer drill, and steel needs a high speed steel or cobalt bit run at a lower speed with cutting fluid.
