The Mitsubishi Electric MSZ-AP80VGKD2KIT is a reverse-cycle wall-mounted split system rated 7.8 kW cooling and 9.0 kW heating. The kit pairs the MSZ-AP80VGKD2 indoor unit with the MUZ-AP80VGD2 outdoor unit on R32 refrigerant. The MSZ-AP80VGKD2KIT includes built-in Wi-Fi on the indoor unit, so no separate adapter is needed.
At 7.8 kW cooling and 9.0 kW heating, the MSZ-AP80VGKD2KIT is the largest single-head system in the AP range. Output modulates between 2.0 and 9.2 kW cooling and 2.2 to 11.0 kW heating. The zoned energy label gives it 3.5 stars for cooling in the hot and cold zones and 3 stars in the average zone. Heating is rated 3 stars hot, 2.5 average and 2 cold. Airflow runs to 342 L/s in cooling and 320 L/s in heating across five fan speeds.
The system runs on 230 V single-phase at 50 Hz and needs a 20 A breaker. The supply cable is 3-core 2.5 mm2, with 4-core 1.0 mm2 running between the units. Pipework is 6.35 mm liquid and 12.70 mm gas, with a 30 m maximum run, 15 m height difference and up to 10 bends. The outdoor unit is pre-charged with 1.5 kg of R32, covering runs to 15 m, with 20 g per metre added beyond that. Installation must be carried out by an appropriately licensed technician.
Carton sizes and weights
- Indoor unit carton — 350 x 1160 x 400 mm (H x W x D), 17 kg bare.
- Outdoor unit carton — 1030 x 980 x 420 mm (H x W x D), 61.4 kg gross, 53 kg bare.
Allow at least 78 kg for the pair, as no gross weight is published for the indoor carton. The outdoor carton is taller at 1030 mm and much heavier at 61.4 kg, so treat it as a two-person lift. Check that the vehicle or trailer can take both cartons before collecting. Transport and store the outdoor unit upright, as laying it on its side or top risks equipment damage. Until installation, keep the system in a clean, dry, pest-free place to meet the warranty conditions.

The MSZ-AP80VGKD2KIT cannot go into a room smaller than 4.4 square metres of floor area, and the indoor unit does not drop below 30 dB(A). Heating falls to 2 stars in the cold zone, so check the zone before specifying it for winter duty. Outdoor operation is limited to -10 to 46 deg C in cooling and -15 to 24 deg C in heating. Pipe runs beyond 30 m fall outside the published installation limits.
