The NLS 40076 is a 1.7 metre flex and plug lead fitted with a 3 pin round earth plug top, rated 10A 250V. The 40076 uses 3 core 1.0mm2 flexible cord in a grey sheath, with the plug moulded onto one end and bare tails at the other. The round earth pin keys the lead to special purpose circuits rather than general purpose outlets.
Special purpose circuits exist so nominated equipment draws from a dedicated supply that general appliances cannot reach. A flat earth lead defeats that separation the moment somebody plugs a kettle into a controlled lighting circuit. The round earth pin prevents it, because the pin will not enter a flat earth outlet. That deliberate physical incompatibility keeps the circuit doing only the job it was installed for.
