The SAL SDD300BTAM is a trailing edge smart dimmer rated 220 to 240V 50Hz, operated by push button at the wall or by phone over Bluetooth Mesh. The SDD300BTAM switches up to 300W of resistive load or 250VA of capacitive dimmable LED in a single gang, with a 2W minimum load. It complies with AS/NZS 60669.2.1 and carries an IP20 rating for interior installation only. Three keycaps are supplied to suit most Australian 1 to 6 gang switch plates.
LED retrofits often leave a dimmer mechanism that flickers at the bottom of its range, or drops out once the connected load falls under the minimum. The SDD300BTAM dims by trailing edge phase cutting from a 2W minimum load. The installer can lock a minimum dim level at the button, so the lamps never sit below their usable operating point. Soft start and soft turn off remove the visible step in output that appears on cheaper phase-cutting mechanisms.
The mechanism sits behind a standard plate, so a smart upgrade does not force a plate change or a return visit. Bluetooth Mesh commissioning happens at the wall with a phone, with no hub and no extra wiring needed to hand the job over. Adding an optional gateway later opens control over the internet without touching the mechanism, which turns one dimmer sale into a staged upgrade path.
The SDD300BTAM is rated IP20 for interior use only and must not be installed outdoors, in bathroom or laundry splash zones, or in exposed positions. It is not suitable for leading edge or non-dimmable drivers, inductive loads, or fan motor control. Ambient conditions must stay between 0 and 40 degrees C, and dimmer to driver compatibility must be confirmed by the installer before fit-off.

The SDD300BTAM complies with AS/NZS 60669.2.1 and must be installed in accordance with AS/NZS 3000. It is rated for 220 to 240V 50Hz supply and carries an IP20 rating for interior residential or commercial positions.
A licensed electrician must install this dimmer. The mechanism wires to active and neutral with the load taken to the light fitting, and it fits behind a standard switch plate. Installing it yourself is not permitted and voids the warranty.
Trailing edge dimming suits 240V halogen lamps, incandescent lamps and LED fittings running a trailing edge dimmable driver. Three keycaps are supplied to fit most Australian 1 to 6 gang switch plates. Dimmer and driver compatibility must be confirmed by the installer before fit-off.
Single gang capacity is 300W resistive or 250VA capacitive dimmable LED. De-rating applies as gangs are added: 250W at two gangs, 200W at three, 150W at four, 100W at five and 75W at six. Capacitive limits step down to 75VA at six gangs.
Minimum load is 2W, subject to the capability of the fitting being dimmed. Very small LED loads may need a load capacitor wired in parallel with the lamp circuit to hold a stable dim level. The optional wiring arrangement is shown on the SAL installation sheet.
Bluetooth Mesh control works within range of the dimmer, typically 15 metres. Adding the optional SAL PIXIE Gateway (model SGW-BT) bridges the mesh to the internet, so the same PIXIE or PIXIE PLUS app controls the dimmer from anywhere. The gateway is sold separately.
SAL warrants the dimmer for 12 months residential use and 12 months commercial use against defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty starts from the invoice date, faulty units are returned to Sparky Direct for assessment, and warranty is void if the product was not installed by a licensed electrician.
No. The IP20 rating limits it to interior residential or commercial positions, at an ambient temperature between 0 and 40 degrees C. Outdoor positions, bathroom and laundry splash zones, and exposed or corrosive environments are outside the rating and are not covered by warranty.
