The SAL SMS806WF-RC is a handheld 18-button remote control for the SAL Mantis multi-function PIR sensor, finished in white and supplied with batteries. The SMS806WF-RC sets sensitivity, hold time, and daylight (lux) threshold, and switches the sensor between sensor mode, photocell mode, and manual on or off. A Mantis sensor sits high on an external wall or under an eave. That puts the TIME, SENS, and LUX dials out of reach once the fitting is up. Every later change to detection sensitivity or hold time means dragging the ladder back under the installation. Adjusting sensitivity, hold time, and lux threshold from ground level removes that step. Manual control of the PE cell function also lets you verify photocell behaviour in daylight, instead of waiting until dusk.
Ground-level commissioning changes the economics of a sensor fit-off. An installer sets hold time, sensitivity, and lux threshold in front of the client, demonstrates the behaviour, and moves to the next fitting. Fewer return visits follow, because the settings are proven on site rather than estimated from datasheet figures. One remote services every Mantis sensor across an installation, so a single accessory covers the whole contract.
The SMS806WF-RC does not switch a lighting circuit itself and holds no settings of its own. It works only with a compatible SAL Mantis multi-function sensor, so it will not adjust sensors from other manufacturers and replaces neither the wall switch nor the sensor. The sensor it controls must be installed by a licensed electrician, and the remote is not intended for use by children.

The SMS806WF-RC is the optional remote for the SAL Mantis multi-function sensor range, covering the SMS806WF in grey and the SMS806WF-BK in black. It has no effect on sensors from other manufacturers or on other SAL sensor families.
The remote needs no wiring and no electrician. Batteries are already fitted, so it works from the moment the packet is opened. The Mantis sensor it controls is a different matter: that unit must be installed by a licensed electrician in accordance with AS/NZS 3000.
Sensitivity, hold time, and daylight (lux) threshold all adjust from the remote. It also switches the sensor between manual on, manual off, automatic sensor mode, and photocell mode. After any change the connected load cycles on and off and a red LED flashes in the sensor lens.
The SENS button steps through three levels. LOW gives roughly 8 metres of detection distance, MEDIUM roughly 14 metres, and HIGH roughly 18 metres. Maximum range applies at an installation height between 1.8 and 2.5 metres, with a 110 degree detection angle.
Photocell mode turns the Mantis sensor into a dusk-to-dawn control. The connected load switches on when ambient light falls below 10 lux and switches off when it rises above 150 lux, with motion detection taken out of the equation. One button press activates it.
The Mantis sensor carries TIME, SENS, and LUX dials on the unit itself, and override and photocell modes can be triggered by flicking the wall switch in a set pattern. The remote replaces the ladder work and gives repeatable button presses instead of dial positions.
