The 20171 complies with MEPS under AS/NZS 4847.2-2010, the minimum energy performance standard for LED lighting in Australia. The fitting also carries an IC-4 rating, allowing installation against normally flammable building elements in ceiling spaces without minimum clearances.
The 20171 requires a 90mm cut-out. Overall fitting size is 108 x 40mm, so the face ring covers the edge of the hole. A flex and plug is supplied, connecting to a surface socket in the ceiling space.
Installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician. The downlight connects through its flex and plug to a surface socket, and both the socket and the supply circuit are licensed work. Warranty is void where the product is not installed by a licensed electrician.
The 20171 dims on either a leading edge or a trailing edge dimmer. Choose a dimmer rated for LED loads and check that the total connected wattage sits inside the dimmer's stated range. Colour temperature is set on the fitting, not by the dimmer.
