        Cabac | XLP Thin Wall Heat Shrink Tubing 38.1mm to 19.1mm 1.2m | Yellow/Green 600V Rated

The Cabac XLP38-YG4FT is a thin wall cross-linked polyolefin heat shrink tube rated 600V, supplied as a single 1.2 metre length that recovers from 38.1mm down to 19.1mm. The XLP38-YG4FT carries the yellow/green colour code used to identify earthing conductors, and its recovered wall measures 1mm. The polyolefin is cross-linked using high energy electron beam technology and complies with UL224 VW1 under file number E366157.

Large earthing conductors, lug barrels and repaired cable ends leave exposed metal that adhesive tape covers inconsistently. Tape also unwinds once a switchboard reaches operating temperature. A 2:1 shrink ratio means a single diameter covers a wide range of conductor and lug sizes. That reduces the variety of sleeving carried on the vehicle. Sleeving an earth termination in yellow/green keeps the conductor identifiable during inspection and subsequent maintenance. The 1mm recovered wall contributes mechanical protection on mains and main earth terminations where cable is knocked inside the enclosure.

Electricians buy 4ft lengths instead of a 25 metre reel when a job needs one or two runs in a large diameter. Inventory cost on the vehicle stays down. The XLP38-YG4FT recovers under a standard heat gun within seconds, so terminations finish on site without a second visit. A single 1.2 metre length divides into several sleeves, and the flame retardant polyolefin retains its dimensions inside enclosures where adhesive tape softens and unwinds. Consistent yellow/green identification also satisfies inspection requirements without additional marking.

        Features

        • 2:1 shrink ratio — the XLP38-YG4FT recovers from a 38.1mm pre-shrink diameter down to 19.1mm, covering a wide span of cable and lug sizes from one part number.
        • 1mm recovered wall — the finished wall thickness gives mechanical cover as well as insulation over terminations and joins.
        • 600V voltage rating — suited to low voltage electrical work including switchboard, submain and general building wiring.
        • Yellow/green colour code — the standard earthing identification colour, so sleeved earth conductors stay identifiable during inspection and later maintenance.
        • 1.2 metre (4ft) length — a single stick cuts into several sleeves, avoiding the outlay of a 25 metre reel for occasional large-diameter work.
        • Cross-linked polyolefin — the material is chemically cross-linked and thermally stabilised, which is what gives the tubing its memory and recovery behaviour.
        • Flame retardant material — the XLP range passes ASTM D2671 flammability testing, which matters inside enclosures and boards.
        • UL224 VW1 compliant — listed under UL file number E366157 and conformant to MIL-I-23053/5 and JIS.
        • Wide temperature range — rated for continuous operation from -75 degrees C to +135 degrees C under normal conditions.
        • UV stabilised — the yellow/green tubing is UV stabilised, so it holds up better than unstabilised sleeving in exposed positions.
        • 25 kV/mm breakdown voltage — dielectric strength measured per millimetre of wall thickness, with water absorption capped at 0.15 percent.
        • Fixed recovery limit — the tubing recovers only to 19.1mm, so it will not draw down tight on conductors or lugs smaller than that diameter.

        Where to use

        • Main earth terminations — sleeve the XLP38-YG4FT over large earth lug barrels and conductor ends so the earthing path stays colour identified.
        • Switchboard and submain work — the 600V rating and 1mm wall suit insulation and re-identification tasks inside domestic and commercial boards.
        • Large cable joins and repairs — covers exposed conductor at a repaired or extended run where the joint sits above 19.1mm finished diameter.
        • Solar and battery earthing — earthing conductors on array frames and inverter runs get sleeved in yellow/green to keep the earth path obvious.
        • Industrial and plant maintenance — the wide temperature range covers plant rooms and machinery cabinets that run hot or cold.
        • Colour coding on rebuilds — the XLP38-YG4FT re-identifies earth conductors during switchboard upgrades where original marking has faded.
        • Marine and vehicle earth work — UV stabilised, flame retardant sleeving suits earthing on boats, caravans and service vehicles.
        • Bus and link insulation — sleeves earthing links and bars where a bare conductor sits close to other metalwork.

The XLP38-YG4FT is not an adhesive lined tube, so it does not form a sealed, moisture blocking joint on its own. It is not suitable for direct burial or submerged joints, and it will not grip conductors under 19.1mm because that is its recovered diameter. Installation and termination work must be carried out by a licensed electrician.

        (XLP38-YG4FT)

The XLP38-YG4FT is compliant with UL224 VW1 under file number E366157 and conformant to MIL-I-23053/5 and JIS. The tubing passes ASTM D2671 flammability testing. It carries a 600V voltage rating and a breakdown voltage of 25 kV per millimetre of wall thickness.

The tubing measures 38.1mm before shrinking and recovers down to 19.1mm, a 2:1 shrink ratio. That range covers conductors, lug barrels and joins that finish between roughly 20mm and 38mm across. Anything smaller than 19.1mm will not be gripped, because the tubing stops recovering at that diameter.

Slide the cut length over the conductor or termination before it is landed, then apply heat evenly with a heat gun or heat tunnel. Recovery begins above 100 degrees C. Work the heat along the sleeve rather than holding it in one spot, so the tube draws down evenly.

Yellow/green is the identification colour for earthing conductors, so sleeving an earth termination in this colour keeps the earth path recognisable during inspection and later maintenance. The colour runs through the material rather than sitting on the surface, so it stays visible after the tube recovers.

Continuous operating temperature runs from -75 degrees C to +135 degrees C under normal conditions. Shrinkage begins above 100 degrees C. Longitudinal shrinkage stays under 5 percent, so a cut length holds close to its original length after recovery.

Thin wall tubing without an adhesive lining is not a sealed, waterproof joint. It insulates, colour codes and protects against abrasion, impact and common fluids or solvents, but it does not block moisture ingress on its own. Do not rely on it for direct burial or submerged terminations.
