Matelec | Photoelectric Smoke Alarm 240V Wired Interconnect | 10-Year Lithium Battery Backup
The Matelec DET-SMK-AC-10 is a 240V mains-powered photoelectric smoke alarm with a 10-year lithium battery backup. It is a Type A detector with dual spectrum sensing, hardwired for interconnection with up to 24 alarms. The DET-SMK-AC-10 mounts to a wall or ceiling and conforms to AS 3786:2023 and AS 3786:2014.
Retrofitting alarms into an occupied home means working around existing ceiling linings and cable runs. The DET-SMK-AC-10 has a base recessed for mains cabling, so the cable lands without a large ceiling cut-away. Its mounting holes line up with standard plaster brackets, and the hinged base opens by push button at fit-off. Dual spectrum sensing reduces nuisance alarming.
Interconnection is wired, and a loop terminal carries the run through each alarm position to a maximum of 24 units. Wall and ceiling mounting are both approved, so a raked ceiling or a beam does not force a change of model. The No Battery, No Close catch stops the base closing with the battery left out. The alarm also carries improved EMI resilience.

The DET-SMK-AC-10 is rated for 0 to 40 degrees C and 5 to 93 percent humidity, so locations outside that range sit out of scope. High temperatures shorten battery life. Interconnection between alarms is hardwired, so the run needs an interconnect conductor at every alarm position.
