The Pica Marker 3030 is a refillable automatic construction marker holding a 2.8mm graphite lead for marking on virtually any material surface. The 3030 arrives green-bodied with a protective cap and one lead, and incorporates a sharpener within the front of that cap. A stainless steel guide tube and automatic lead advancement support the exposed tip through repeated marking against abrasive material.
Standard carpenter pencils and fine mechanical pencils give up on dusty, oily, wet or dark material, which covers most surfaces marked during a working day. The 3030 carries a 2B graphite lead that writes on raw, dusty, oily, wet and dark surfaces, so a single instrument completes the entire set-out. The sharpener integrated into the cap maintains a fine marking point without a separate knife. On glossy material the graphite wipes away with a tissue, which suits temporary alignment lines.
Electricians retain the 3030 in the pouch because it covers switchboard set-out, plasterboard cut-outs and conduit alignment without a change of marking instrument. The quiver cap with a reinforced clip secures to a pocket or tool belt and releases one-handed while the opposite hand manages the measuring tape. Refillable graphite leads keep the body operational for years rather than committing it to the bin after a single lead. The roll stop moulded into the barrel prevents it disappearing off a bench or a ladder platform.
The Pica Marker 3030 is not a permanent marker, so it is unsuitable for labelling that must survive weather, washing or repeated handling. Graphite applied to glossy surfaces wipes away with a tissue, which rules the 3030 out of asset tagging, circuit identification and permanent marking. The barrel accepts 2.8mm Pica Dry leads only, so conventional mechanical pencil refills will not load.

The 3030 marks on dusty, raw, oily, wet and dark surfaces, as well as glossy and rough material. The graphite lead holds a line where a standard pencil skids or a felt pen bleeds. On glossy surfaces the mark can be wiped off with a tissue.
A sharpener is built into the front of the protective cap, so the point is dressed without a knife or a separate tool. The push-button feed advances a fresh length of lead from the barrel once the tip wears down.
The body is refillable and takes 2.8mm graphite leads, loaded from the back of the barrel. Water-soluble and water-resistant leads are made in several colours to suit bright or dark material. Replacement leads are sold separately in packs.
The pack contains the marker body, the protective cap with its built-in sharpener, and one graphite lead. Extra leads are bought separately in refill packs, so the marker can be reloaded rather than replaced once the supplied lead runs out.
Graphite marks are not permanent. On glossy surfaces they wipe off with a tissue, which suits temporary set-out. Refill leads differ: red, yellow and white leads can be wiped off, while blue, green and white leads are water resistant. Match the lead to how long the mark needs to last.
The body is refillable, so it stays in service as long as leads are replaced. A sealing ring on the barrel and an umbrella cap on the push-button guard the internals against dust and moisture. Pica states the Power Lock mechanism triples the lead holding power over the earlier design.
