        The Major Tech MT310 is a plug-in socket and earth leakage tester for 3-wire 230V AC circuits, rated CAT IV 300V and CAT III 600V. The MT310 confirms socket wiring and polarity through neon indicators and shows the measured AC voltage on an LCD display. Six fixed trip current settings from 10mA to 35mA let the operator test an earth leakage circuit breaker from the outlet.

        Verifying a run of outlets means confirming polarity and earth continuity at the socket, not only at the switchboard.         My original post was in error and I wish to apologise and correct it. The spec in the manual clearly states the display with change to 0L if the real voltage exceeds 245V and this is what my unit does. The slight problem is my display seems to be about 5V above actual so it can display up to about 249V before tapping out (at around ~244.5V. Major Tech were good enough to call me and explain the situation.
