Do you have a problem with your led downlights flickering? Don't worry; you're not alone. This article will discuss the causes of led downlight flickering and how to stop it.
The SAL Flicker Immunity is a new system of lights and dimmers created by SAL to eliminate the flickering in LED downlights associated with the off-peak hot water tones in NSW and S.E. Queensland.
Sal Flicker Immunity Technology Eliminates Flickering LED Down Lights.
Flickering is a type of motion often seen as an annoyance in electronic equipment. It is caused by the rapid change in brightness that occurs when ripples go through the power system.
Sal Flicker Immunity Technology uses a combination of hardware and software to eliminate flicker.
SFI provides a simple installation process at a much lower cost than other solutions, which, unlike SFI, require the installation of devices into the electrical board.
SFI requires:
– Installation of specific LED downlights from SAL
– Installation of a specific 2-wire phase dimmer from SAL
The off-peak hot water frequency flickering stops when these two components are installed together.
Installed separately, these components will not operate as expected. This is a system, and BOTH items must be installed together on the offending lighting circuit.
New Dimmer: First, replace the existing dimmer with the SDD400SFI dimmer from SAL
New Downlights: ECOGEM 10W – S9041TC/WH/SFI
The SDD400SFI dimmer and S9041TC/WH/SFI Downlight must be installed together.
All lights on that controlled circuit must be replaced, not just where flickering is visible.
Installing just one – either the dimmer or the downlights – will not produce the desired result.
The SDD400SFI dimmer will NOT operate as a dimmer UNLESS it controls one of these two nominated light types.
Besides removing flicker during hot water ripple injection events, many potential causes of flickering in downlights exist. Some of the most common reasons are worn or damaged parts of the light fixture, improper wiring, or a lack of insulation. If you notice flickering or a decrease in brightness, it is essential to address the issue immediately.
