The Clipsal 40ERDM-VW is a rotary push dimmer mechanism rated 220-240 V AC, with a maximum load of 350 W. The 40ERDM-VW is part of the Clipsal Iconic 40 series and is supplied as a mechanism with a Vivid White glossy knob. It uses trailing edge phase control and complies with AS/NZS 60669.2.1 and AS/NZS CISPR-15.
A dimmer must match the load and the fitting. The 40ERDM-VW runs trailing-edge phase control, which covers dimmable LED lamps, incandescent lamps, and electronic transformers. The load rating runs from 3 W to 350 W, and it drops as more dimmers share a plate. Dimming performance also varies with the type and brand of LED connected.
The 40ERDM-VW clips into a grid plate and connects through two flying leads. The knob and adapter pull off to set the minimum brightness at the shaft during commissioning. The body measures 22.8 by 22.8 by 55.4 mm and suits 40 series and 300 series plates.

The 40ERDM-VW is rated IP20 and is not suitable for damp or wet positions such as bathrooms, laundries and external walls. It does not dim lamps that are not themselves dimmable, and loads under 3 W sit below the minimum rating. Ambient temperature must stay between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius, with humidity from 5 to 95 per cent and non-condensing.
