The Clipsal 755RB5 is a smoke alarm mounting base with an integrated relay, rated 220-240 V a.c. 50 Hz, and forms part of the Clipsal Fire Tek range. The 755RB5 carries voltage-free NO, COM and NC relay contacts, rated 250 V a.c. 2 A, for switching a connected auxiliary device. It is manufactured to AS/NZS 3100 and rated IP20 for indoor installation.
Where an alarm activation has to switch an auxiliary device and not just sound, that switching comes from the base rather than the alarm. The 755RB5 provides voltage-free NO, COM and NC contacts that operate when the fitted alarm is triggered. The relay works on mains supply or on the alarm backup battery. Its terminals sit under their own cover, segregated from the mains terminals by a physical barrier.
Fitting follows the same steps as a plain mounting base. Active, neutral and interconnect land on the base terminals, the cover clips shut, and the alarm latches on at the hinge. Relay behaviour is set at the alarm itself with a Global or Local switch that works with this base only. Separate T, H and C terminals take a remote test or hush button wired away from the alarm.
The 755RB5 is not rated for damp locations, is not suitable for outdoor installation, and must not be attached to freshly painted or electrically conductive surfaces such as metal. The base takes the Clipsal 755RLPSMA2, 755RLPSMA4, 755PSMA2, 755PSMA4, 755WSA, 755PSMA5 and 755PSMA5L smoke alarms, and the 755HA5L heat alarm. It is not compatible with third-party products or systems such as fire panels.
The relay provides voltage-free NO, COM and NC contacts rated 250 V a.c. 2 A for external devices such as a strobe, siren, light or building management system. Each relay terminal takes one 2.5 mm2 cable. The relay terminals are segregated from the mains supply terminals by a physical barrier, and the relay operates on mains or backup battery power.
The base is rated IP20 and is for indoor installation only. Keep the terminal connection area clear of the metallic parts of any other device in the same location. Do not supply it from a non-pure sinusoidal source such as a square-wave inverter. Do not modify it after installation.
