Learn more by watching our THEBEN LUNA110PLUSEL | Luna Time and Light Control Twilight Switches video.
The Theben LUNA110PLUSEL is an analogue twilight switch that switches a lighting circuit according to measured ambient light level. It operates on 110V AC to 230V AC, occupies 2 modules on DIN rail, and switches up to 16A at 250V AC through a changeover contact. The LUNA110PLUSEL is supplied with a flush-mounted external light sensor and covers a switching brightness range of 2 to 50000 lux.
Lighting controlled by a fixed time switch gradually drifts out of step with sunset as the seasons shift, requiring somebody to return and readjust it. Car parks, signage, and yard lighting then operate through daylight, or leave the site dark early. The LUNA110PLUSEL measures ambient illumination through its external light sensor and switches on measured light level rather than clock time, adjustable between 2 and 50000 lux. Separate on and off delays of 0 to 20 minutes determine circuit response.
On a switchboard the LUNA110PLUSEL occupies 2 modules of DIN rail and lands its load lines in DuoFix spring terminals. A test function, plus permanent ON and OFF positions on the potentiometer, proves the circuit at commissioning without waiting for dusk. Zero-cross switching reduces wear on the relay contact and the lamps on circuits that cycle daily.
The LUNA110PLUSEL is rated IP20 and carries no weatherproof rating, so it mounts inside a switchboard or enclosure and never in an exposed position. The switching output is not SELV, so it must not be used to switch safety extra-low voltage circuits. Sensor cable runs are limited to 100 metres, and ambient temperature at the unit must stay between -25°C and 55°C.
(LUNA110PLUSEL)
The LUNA110PLUSEL is rated IP20 with protection class II, and the supplied sensor is class III. IP20 offers no weather protection, so the unit belongs inside a switchboard or enclosure.
The unit clips onto DIN rail and takes up 2 modules of rail width. Load lines land in DuoFix spring terminals. Installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician.
A flush-mounted external light sensor is included in the delivery, so no separate sensor is required. The sensor connects back to the unit on a cable run of up to 100 metres.
The LUNA110PLUSEL is analogue, so switching brightness and the two delay times are set on three potentiometers rather than through a menu or app. Setup is quicker, with no programming step.
Incandescent and halogen loads run to 2600W. LED lamps above 2W run to 600W, LED lamps under 2W to 50W, and energy-saving lamps to 270W. Switching capacity is 16A at 250V AC.
Zero-cross switching times the contact operation to the point where the AC waveform crosses zero. This reduces electrical wear on the relay contact and on the connected lamps, extending service life on daily-cycling circuits.
The unit carries a one-year warranty for both domestic and commercial use, running from the invoice date. Warranty is handled on a return-to-Sparky-Direct basis.
