Learn more by watching our Cabac - Mech Booster Relay 3 Wire 240v 10 Amp HNS010RL video.
The Cabac HNS010RL is a 3-wire mech booster relay rated 240V 10A, built to lift the current capacity of a circuit switched by a separate S-Click timer or switch. The HNS010RL is not a standalone switch: it operates only when driven by a compatible 3-wire S-Click control device. It complies with AS/NZS 3100 for electrical safety and CISPR15 for electromagnetic emissions.
A 2-wire push-button timer cannot switch inductive loads such as fan motors, submersible pool pumps, or iron core ballasts on its own. The Cabac HNS010RL intercepts the control signal from a 3-wire S-Click device and energises the full load through its own relay contacts. This arrangement lets a compact wall-plate timer command a substantial motor load without exceeding its individual switching rating.
Licensed electricians deploy the HNS010RL to extend the S-Click range to high-current applications a 2-wire mechanism cannot accommodate. The relay conducts up to 10A and 2400W, so a single control plate can operate pool pumps, ventilation fans, or heating elements. Because front mech covers for Clipsal (30 series) and HPM wall plates are supplied, the unit integrates alongside the switching device on a standard dual plate.
The Cabac HNS010RL is not a standalone switch and will not operate without a compatible 3-wire S-Click control device. Do not connect loads above 10A, 2400W, or 1200VA, and do not run the unit outside its 0 to 50 degree C operating range. In a normally closed configuration, cutting control power leaves the load energised, so isolate the circuit before working on it.
(HNS010RL)
The HNS010RL is driven by a Cabac 3-wire S-Click device: the HNS440TM, HNS450TM, or HNS460SW. It has no standalone switching function and needs one of these control units wired to its control inputs to operate.
Installation must be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor. The booster relay forms part of a fixed-wire installation, mounts behind a dual wall plate or in-wall using its cable-tie feature, and a front cover must be fitted at all times for safe operation.
A 2-wire push-button timer cannot switch inductive loads such as fan motors, pool pumps, or iron core ballasts. The 3-wire booster relay takes the control signal and switches the full load through its own relay contacts, lifting the circuit capacity to 10A and 2400W.
The relay handles incandescent, halogen, fluorescent with electronic or iron core ballast, compact fluorescent, LED, electronic and wirewound transformers, fan motors, and heating elements. The maximum rating is 10A, 2400W, and 1200VA at 230 to 240V AC.
The HNS010RL complies with AS/NZS 3100 for electrical safety and CISPR15 for electromagnetic emissions. It runs on 230 to 240V AC 50Hz within a 0 to 50 degree C operating temperature range.
Normally open wiring keeps the load off until switched on. Normally closed keeps the load on until switched off. In the normally closed configuration, cutting control power to the relay leaves the load energised, so isolate the circuit before any work.
