Installation of the HNS020RB must be carried out by a licensed electrician. It installs as part of a fixed-wire electrical installation behind a standard wall plate, wiring onto the same circuit as the S-Click device it controls. The LED indicator can be set to one of three modes: always on, always off, or on only when the button is pressed. This lets the installer match the indicator behaviour to how the point is used, such as leaving it lit as a locator in a dark hallway.
The button function of the HNS020RB operates without a neutral. However, the white LED indicator requires a neutral at the plate to illuminate. If no neutral is present, the button still works as a remote control, but the indicator light will not operate.
