The SD-FAN-TEXT-30M-WE is built on a standard Clipsal 30M-WE mechanism, with the text cut into the white polycarbonate dolly rather than printed on it. It wires as a one-way or two-way switch and carries a loop terminal. The mechanism is supplied on its own, so a grid plate and cover plate are needed to complete the switch.
A bank of 30 Series mechanisms carries identical white rockers, with nothing on the dolly to say which circuit each one runs. The SD-FAN-TEXT-30M-WE carries the word FAN engraved into the dolly face, so the fan circuit is named at the switch. The marking is cut into the polycarbonate rather than printed on top of it. Engraving is the only change made to a standard Clipsal 30M-WE mechanism.
The SD-FAN-TEXT-30M-WE is supplied as a mechanism, not a complete switch. It carries up to 10 A at 250 V AC and holds an M rating of 100, so motor loads up to 100 W are within rating. Fluorescent load is rated to 10 A and LED load to 100 W. Check the fan nameplate sits inside those figures first.
It is an on and off switch only, with no speed positions and no electronic control inside. A fan wired through it runs at full speed whenever the switch is on. Speed control needs a separate mechanism built for the job.
The mechanism is supplied on its own, with no grid plate or cover plate in the pack. You need both to finish the switch. It fits Clipsal Classic, 2000 Series and Standard range plates, the same as the 30M-WE it is built on.
The mech wires for either one-way or two-way control, so the same unit works for a single switch position or a pair. A loop terminal is built in for landing a looped active. Wiring is a licensed electrician's job.
