        The GT Smoke Alarms GT240 is a 240V mains-powered photoelectric smoke alarm with a replaceable 9V alkaline battery backup.         Mains-only alarms go quiet the moment the board trips or the street loses power. The GT240 holds a replaceable 9V alkaline backup behind the mains supply, so detection continues through an outage.
