        Schneider Electric | Acti9 iC60H RCBO 32A 30mA 1P+Ns | Type A 10kA

The Schneider Electric A9D11832 is a residual current breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO), rated 32A with 30mA earth-leakage sensitivity. The A9D11832 is a 1P+Ns device from the Acti9 iC60H range, with a C curve and Type A earth-leakage protection. Breaking capacity is 10,000A Icn at 230/240V AC and the device complies with AS/NZS 61009.1. It clips onto standard DIN rail and occupies two 9mm pitches, 18mm overall.

Switchboard space runs short on older domestic boards being brought up to current wiring rules. The A9D11832 combines overcurrent and earth-leakage protection in one 18mm module, so the one-module width suits retrofit work where space is limited. Earth-leakage protection is integrated on the outgoing circuit rather than shared across a group RCD. The device also gives additional protection on loss of the neutral, and ON/OFF local signalling shows contact position at the board.

Combining overcurrent and earth-leakage protection in one device saves installation time and space on the board. The A9D11832 accepts up to 25mm2 rigid cable in the top screw clamp terminals at 3.5 N.m torque. It is suitable for isolation, so the outgoing circuit can be locked off while work is carried out. The Visi-Trip window indicates fault tripping, so a faulted device is identified at the board.

        Features

        • 32A rated current — rated 32A at 50 degrees Celsius, sized for domestic and light commercial final subcircuits.
        • C tripping curve — the C curve code covers general mixed lighting and power circuits on a thermal-magnetic trip characteristic.
        • 30mA earth-leakage sensitivity — the residual current setting is 30mA, the level used for protection of persons against electric shock by direct contact.
        • Type A protection class — the A9D11832 carries a Type A earth-leakage protection class, which detects pulsating DC residual current as well as sinusoidal AC.
        • 10kA breaking capacity — 10,000A Icn at 230/240V AC 50/60Hz, with a rated service breaking capacity of 7,500A.
        • Instantaneous earth-leakage tripping — the earth-leakage protection time delay is instantaneous, with no intentional delay built in.
        • 18mm single module — the A9D11832 occupies two 9mm pitches on the rail, 110mm high and 77.5mm deep.
        • DIN rail clip-on — clips onto standard DIN rail at a 45mm grid distance, with no separate mounting hardware.
        • 25mm2 screw clamp terminals — the top terminal takes 1 to 25mm2 rigid or 1 to 16mm2 flexible cable without a cable end.
        • Padlockable toggle — ON/OFF locking facilities take a 4mm padlock for lockout during work on the circuit.
        • Not comb busbar compatible — comb busbar and distribution block connection is not supported, so conductors are terminated directly into the device terminals.
        • IP20 rated — the A9D11832 is an IP20 device for installation inside a switchboard or enclosure only.

        Where to use

        • Domestic final subcircuits — the A9D11832 suits 32A final subcircuits on 230/240V AC single-phase supply at 50Hz.
        • Board upgrades and retrofits — the one-module 18mm width fits added circuits on boards where spare rail space is limited.
        • Circuits feeding electronics — the Type A class on the A9D11832 covers loads with single-phase rectifier circuits that produce pulsating DC residual current.
        • DIN rail distribution boards — clip-on DIN rail mounting suits chassis-mounted domestic and light commercial boards.
        • Circuits needing lockout — the A9D11832 locks off with a 4mm padlock for maintenance and fault work on the protected circuit.
        • Per-circuit earth-leakage protection — integrated earth-leakage protection sits on the outgoing circuit rather than upstream on a shared device.

The A9D11832 is rated IP20, so it must sit inside a switchboard or enclosure and is not weatherproof. It is marked general type, not for patient areas, and is not compatible with comb busbar or distribution block connection. The ambient operating range is -15 to 60 degrees Celsius.

        (A9D11832)

The A9D11832 complies with AS/NZS 61009.1, IEC 61009-1, IEC 61009-2-2 and BS EN 61009-1. Rated insulation voltage is 400V AC and rated impulse withstand voltage is 4kV. The device is IP20 rated for installation inside a switchboard.

Switchboard work is licensed electrical work in Australia and must be carried out by a licensed electrician. The device clips onto DIN rail across two 9mm pitches. Stripping length is 14mm for the top connection and 13mm for the bottom, with 3.5 N.m and 2 N.m tightening torque respectively.

A Type A device detects pulsating DC residual current, which loads with single-phase rectifier circuits can produce, as well as the sinusoidal AC residual current a Type AC device detects. Sensitivity is 30mA and the earth-leakage protection time delay is instantaneous.

Comb busbar and distribution block connection is not supported on this device. Conductors are terminated directly into the screw clamp terminals, which take 1 to 25mm2 rigid or 1 to 16mm2 flexible cable at the top, and 1 to 16mm2 rigid or 1 to 10mm2 flexible at the bottom.

Mechanical durability is 20,000 cycles and electrical durability is 5,000 cycles. The toggle carries ON/OFF local signalling and a contact position indicator, and fault tripping is shown in the Visi-Trip window. Accessories and auxiliaries are listed by Schneider Electric for this range.

The contractual warranty period on this device is 18 months, starting from the invoice date. The method is Clipsal in-home warranty, so Clipsal handles the claim directly and the device does not need to be returned. Warranty is void if the product is not installed by a licensed electrician.

The IP20 rating means the device is for installation inside a switchboard or enclosure, not for direct outdoor or damp exposure. Ambient operating range is -15 to 60 degrees Celsius, with storage from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and relative humidity to 95 per cent at 55 degrees.
